A program in crisis is a newborn program
  • Programs are meant to bring benefits. A dying program will bring no benefit.
  • So what do you need, to keep wasting resources in exchange for nothing? 
  • Or, you can recognize the failure (that happens most of the time) and fresh-start the program under a new light.
  • To rescue a program is  not about doing magic. It's not about applying revolutionary tools.
  • It's all about changing the minds, challenging the rules and revising the decision-making process.
  • And you cannot change the minds of the people that could not challenge the rules and could not choose differently before. And they are not to be blamed: they had no choice in the current rules and mindsets: that's when we come in.

    • Set: the rescue needs to begin by working on the values that will need to be brought, the cost and resources compromises and the ROI of the rescued program. This is to be detailed in a detailed, relevant business case,  and then an efficient new Project or Program Charter. All this is what we call a Rescue case.
    • Do:  It includes the program or project life cycle after the Charter is delivered in the Set  stage. 

    The Definition stage  is key for giving the rescue a genuine success opportunity. 

    For no matter how good is the technical work, the execution team won't be able to comlete the task if the organization itself is convinced of the rescue's benefits.

    Worse, it makes absolutely no sense to rescue an initiative that is not perceived as a valuable resource for realising the corporate strategy.

    We need to Set the rescue case.  That means that we need to come with a suitable business case, then a viable and powerful Charter that allows the execution team to effectively proceed with the rescue activities.

    Simple as it sounds, in order to build both the business case and then the Charter , key people needs to be in agreement and engaged. That's why a great effort is promoted in order to get executive buy-in.

      These phases are executed after a serious people development  phase that makes the company sure that they will in fact be able to execute with great chances of success.

      In particular, we'll neede to coach your executives so the execution is aligned end to end along the company, and top management is ready to make opportune, effective and rational decisions.
